Paper Mate Arrowhead Pink Cap Erasers

If you’re going to draw or write –and whatever else there is — with a pencil, you’re going to make mistakes and sometimes, you’re going to want to erase those mistakes.

The iconic Paper Mate Arrowhead Pink Cap Eraser is great for everyday use, where paper wear is not a concern. The eraser does it’s job admirably but will wear down softer paper. If you’re concerned about damage to a notebook or letter (if you still write those), a softer eraser, like a vinyl one would be kinder to paper.

When I’m drawing, I care about any abrasion to the paper, and don’t use the pink eraser, instead opting for a vinyl eraser or a soft kneaded one. For writing, though, the Arrowhead eraser is perfect

Here’s some great attributes about this eraser:

  • Soft – erases quickly and won’t ordinarily tear your paper under normal conditions
  • A new eraser has a convenient point for detailed erasing, if that’s your thing
  • Inexpensive so you can cap as many pencils as you want for very little money – I got a pack of 144 for less than 6 dollars on Amazon
  • Eraser head won’t rip off – a problem in some pencil top erasers, especially smaller, vinyl erasers.

One drawback: I was surprised to find out that this eraser weighed 2.7 grams versus 3.7 grams for one of my pencils. That’s quite a lot of weight all at one end of the pencil. That can, of course, shift the balance on an otherwise nimble pencil. Let’s just say that if I’m feeling fancy, I disassemble and go headless!

Overall, though, this is my favorite cap eraser and will be buying more soon — maybe I’ll find out where all my eraser go.
